The new Grand Hyatt at SFO in San Francisco International Airport is officially open. Part of Hyatt’s expansion of 40 new hotels on the West Coast by 2021, the new hotel has 351 rooms with 22 suites, as well as 14,435 square feet of meeting and event space. The property is positioned just across an enclosed bridge from a new AirTrain station.
The design of the property’s event venues is inspired by the San Francisco Bay, with deep blues and sail-like floor patterns and ceiling forms. All 18 event spaces, including a 5,760-square-foot Grand Ballroom, are named for famous planes, like the Stratocruiser and the Looper.
Each guestroom has a flatscreen TV and, in an effort to improve sustainability, large-format bath amenities. The hotel is also reportedly working to limit single-use plastics. Travelers can also reserve a micro stay in the hotel’s day-use rooms.
Quail & Crane is the hotel’s 108-seat signature restaurant. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it has an open kitchen and a menu inspired by both Northern California and Asia. The Twin Crafts Market & Bar is a multifunctional lounge with a 24/7 grab-and-go market selling breakfast, salads and sandwiches. The cocktail bar, open from 10:00 a.m. through midnight, serves up burgers, oysters on the half shell, salads and cocktails, as well as California wines and local craft beers.
Other on-property amenities include a 24-hour fitness center with a dedicated yoga space, as well as a massage suite.
The property is aiming to achieve LEED Gold Certification by early 2020.
