Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open a major new event hotel in Minnesota: the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel. Set to open in late 2020, the new property will have more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and pre-function space.
The new hotel will in Eagan, MN, part of the Viking Lakes mixed-use development. The development and hotel will be easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul, as well as the Mall of America and Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport.
The hotel’s meeting spaces will include a 7,500-square-foot ballroom and a 4,410-square-foot event center. The property will also have six two-story property lounges, one on every other guestroom floor, spanning nearly 1,500 square feet and offering couches, communal tables, a fireplace and kitchen. The lounges will serve as an uncommon destination within the hotel for groups and meeting planners to utilize, Omni said.
In terms of accommodations, the 14-story hotel will have 320 guestrooms, including 14 suites. Guests will also be able to enjoy an all-day dining outlet; a specialty restaurant and lounge with a bar and outdoor terrace; a grab-and-go market; retail outlet; espresso and lobby bar; full service spa with multiple treatment rooms, sauna and steam room; large indoor pool with access to an outdoor terrace; and a fitness center.
The Viking Lakes development is also home to the Minnesota Vikings headquarters Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center and TCO Stadium. Additional uses for the planned development include corporate offices, retail, restaurants and entertainment, Omni said.
