Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta has announced the completion of a property-wide renovation. The project is inclusive of guestrooms, meeting and event spaces, the lobby and market, the 24-hour fitness center, the indoor saltwater pool and its on-site restaurant and bar. In addition, the restaurant has been renamed Author’s Den; the redesigned space has also welcomed a new executive chef and refreshed menus.
All 194 guestrooms have been renovated to reflect the 1970s with mid-century modern furnishings and retro art. Guests will find subtle design touches such as feathers symbolizing the free-spiritedness of the community, depictions of clouds and green curtains representing the proximity to Piedmont Park and the greenery of Midtown Atlanta, and retro artwork of “The Great Speckled Bird,” a progressive underground newspaper that ran from 1968 to 1976.
The restaurant, formerly named Fork & Juniper, has been renamed Author’s Den. The outlet will serve Southern food with a global twist and locally sourced ingredients. The name pays homage to the hotel’s close proximity to the Margaret Mitchell House, where pieces of “Gone with the Wind” were written, and where Boyd Lewis, a late photojournalist known for being an advocate for social change, once lived. An announcement sharing the opening date of Author’s Den along with more details and images will be shared in the near future.
Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta is a full-service lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Atlanta and within walking distance to Piedmont Park.
