Expanding its presence in Latin America, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is set to open its first hotel in the Lima city center. Opening October 1, Iberostar Selection Miraflores will be the first plastic-free hotel in the Peruvian capital and will put an emphasis on local produce and flavors to support the environment as well as the local community.
In line with the company’s “Wave of Change” movement to preserve seas and oceans, the new hotel will be free of single-use plastics. Iberostar aims to promote responsible tourism with the new opening, aligning it with the three pillars of its "Wave of Change" movement: Progressing toward a circular economy; promoting responsible consumption of fish and seafood; and improving coastal health. In addition, it highlights Peruvian gastronomy while also offering responsibly sourced seafood in a bid to benefit not only the health of the oceans, but also the fishing communities.
The 18-floor five-star hotel’s design is inspired by the Pacaya Samiria nature reserve. The rooms allow guests to enjoy the city environment with views of the boardwalk. The hotel also features a new concept, Cosmos Level, offering exclusive spaces, along with other benefits such as a concierge service and private meeting rooms.
Peruvian gastronomy will be one of the highlights of the hotel served in specialty restaurants Ortega & Huamán and Tapería 27 Tapas, both overseen by local chef Carlos Testino. Rounding out the amenities is a rooftop on the 18th floor, featuring an infinity pool with panoramic views of almost the entire city, the ocean and the sunsets.
