InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has announced the upcoming opening of InterContinental Indianapolis this winter. As one of the first luxury hotels to open in the city in nearly two decades, the property is located steps from the Monument Circle and the Indiana State Capitol.
InterContinental Indianapolis will have 170 guestrooms and suites, a Penthouse Suite on a private floor with views of Monument Circle, two new dining concepts, including a rooftop bar, a 24-hour fitness center, and 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Locally developed and owned by Keystone Group, InterContinental Indianapolis is housed in the historic Illinois Building that was originally built in 1926.
The Illinois Building, located at the center of downtown Indy, was listed as one of the state’s 10 most endangered landmarks until being purchased by Keystone Group. An entire floor was added as part of a $110 million restoration project, and the hotel now rises 11 stories. Facets of the building’s original ornate lobby have been preserved, which will blend in with a new contemporary canopy. Other design details include a grand staircase in the second-floor lounge space and curated art by local artists.
The hotel’s Executive Chef Craig Baker will oversee all food and beverage offerings, including the launch of Serliana Café, the new Astrea Rooftop Bar and Hyde Park Steakhouse.
InterContinental Indianapolis will also have over 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 2,500-square-foot ballroom that can be used for weddings, galas and corporate events, as well as an executive boardroom.
Nearby attractions include the Lucas Oil Stadium, White River State Park, Indianapolis Zoo, Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the Symphony Orchestra.
